Small volume dissolution is a useful technique when tablets only contain very small amounts of active ingredient or for extended release tablets where small amounts are released and may be difficult to detect using HPLC or UV-Vis.
For tests of this size, vessel, paddle and basket dimensions are reduced and adaptors are required to use them in existing dissolution testers.
Sometimes parts designed for one type of tester maybe used in other types, so please enquire if you are unsure about low volume dissolution testing in your dissolution bath.

Validating Small Volume Tests
For small volume testing using mini vessels and paddles/baskets, centering is performed using standard tools with standard shafts and vessels and then a small-volume adaptor.
Height requirements vary however and so a small volume height tester is required.
