The USP6 or Rotating Cylinder, is used for testing larger patches. The cylinder can be standard size or made larger by the addition of an extension. The patch is fixed face up to the cylinder, and the cylinder rotated in the media, replacing the basket or paddle apparatus. Holes in the top of the cylinder encourage media movement around the patch and samples are taken in the normal way

Transdermal Testing
Unlike dissolution testing, transdermal testing is carried out at 32°C to reflect the lower temperature of the skin.
Other variables such as the height setting and sampling requirements are the same as dissolution testing.
