Sinker wire is used to make sinkers for dissolution testing. Although inexpensive compared with manufcatured sinkers, it is harder to acheive the reproducibility of a machine manufactured and polished sinker.

Choosing Sinker Size
The sinker should have minimal surface contact with the tablet as this can affect the dissolution rate. Sinkers are available in different sizes to accommodate most capsule/tablet dimensions.
