Discussion

With current motor technology there is no reason why dissolution testers should not be within 0.1rpm and certainly 1rpm is easily achievable.

Optical Tachometer

The simplest way to measure rotational speed is with an optical tachometer. This reads a reflective marker placed on the spindle. It is ideal to measure this at both 50 rpm and 100rpm which are the two most common test speeds.
